We noticed that many outlets for purchasing art treat customers as a numerical statistic.
At such outlets, an art enthusiast clicks from page to page, perhaps for several hours, only to find nothing matching his or her interests. Or, when they have the time, a potential customer may visit a gallery, only to find that what he or she had been looking for has already been sold, or that the type of art is only available at a different gallery.
